A high tech marketing veteran, Kirk's experience ranges from start-ups to multinationals, from back-room adviser to front-line spokesperson, from strategy and research to advertising and PR. His background includes senior positions at worldwide advertising agencies Ogilvy & Mather, and Foote Cone and Belding; and global accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, plus years as an independent consultant. Kirk directed the original positioning research and developed the initial branding to launch Compaq Computer -- the most successful start-up in history at the time. He went on to successfully introduce more than 25 new products and manage advertising in 35 countries. For PwC's technology practice Kirk developed the MoneyTree Survey of venture capital investing in emerging high tech companies, building it into a powerful business development tool that generated more favorable media coverage than any initiative by any Big 4 firm. In addition to extensive experience with other technology companies like Digital Equipment Corporation and McCaw Cellular, Kirk has worked the consumer side of the street for companies like American Express and Shell Oil, as well as packaged goods, real estate and industry trade associations. Over the years, Kirk has been quoted in numerous business publications including The Wall Street Journal and Business Week, plus a slew of specialized media such as Network World, Information Week and Entrepreneur magazine. And, he has appeared on CNN, CNBC and National Public Radio. A native Texan, Kirk attended universities in three states. He holds a BBA and MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington. He also did doctoral work at Arizona State and executive education at Harvard Business School. Currently, he is also adjunct professor of marketing at Texas State University. |
